Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital

Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital & IT4Kids

The Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital and the IT4Kids Foundation work together to help children with a chronic illness or condition, both physically and mentally, through sport and exercise. The value of the donated used hardware is donated to the WKZ Sportief exercise program at the children’s hospital. Through WKZ Sportief, Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital offers sport and exercise activities for all children staying in the hospital. The aim is to encourage children with a chronic illness or condition to get into or continue playing sports.

About Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital and WKZ Sportief

The vision of the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital (WKZ) and IT4Kids are interchangeable: every child should be able to participate in sports regardless of financial or physical barriers. The WKZ especially helps children with a medical passport to get back on their feet safely. The development of the child, or #skills4life, plays a central role in this. This is done through the sports and exercise program, WKZ Sportief, amongst other things. IT4Kids provides financial support for two projects:

–        The WKZ “Get out of Bed” program, where children in the hospital are challenged to exercise in a fun and playful way. The aim is to get the children out of their hospital bed as quickly as possible.

–        The WKZ “On the Move” program, which is aims to help children with a chronic illness or condition build resilience and self‑confidence through sport. The child should not see the disability as an obstacle, but as a strength.
